A venture capitalist with 30 years of experience, Mark Stevens is the managing partner of S-Cubed Capital, a single family office, in Menlo Park, California. There, he oversees investments in a wide variety of asset classes including public and private equities, real estate, fixed income and direct investments in early stage companies. He is also an investor and executive board member of the Golden State Warriors. In addition, Stevens serves as a special limited partner at Sequoia Capital. He formerly led the global venture capital firm as a managing partner.

Stevens was involved in many investments during his time at Sequoia, which he joined in 1989. Not only did he oversee the firm’s successful investments in Quickturn and Documentum, but he was also part of the group of voting partners responsible for Sequoia’s early investments in YouTube, Nvidia, and Google. Stevens also worked with many of Sequoia’s portfolio companies, serving as a director of Aspect Development, AtWeb, and more than 10 others.

Before entering the venture capital industry, Stevens worked at Intel Corporation for five years. There, he held a variety of sales and technical marketing positions. His career began at Hughes Aircraft Company.
Stevens earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and electrical engineering (magna cum laude) as well as a master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Southern California (USC). He later received his master of business administration from Harvard.

Over the years, Stevens has supported both of his alma maters through philanthropy and board service. In 2001, he joined the USC board of trustees and has served as co-chair of the investment committee and as a member of the executive and finance committees. He and his wife, Mary Stevens, have also made substantial philanthropic gifts to USC. Their donations led to the establishment of the USC Stevens Center for Innovation and the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute. In addition, Mark Stevens sits on the dean’s advisory board of Harvard Business School and previously served as chairman of the university’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award dinner.
